“It can be very unsettling to learn that you or a loved one has a condition that may require Neurosurgical intervention. One of my main priorities is to help the patient and their family understand these complex situations. If the decision leads to treatment, we have the training, experience, skill and technology to handle all aspects of Neurosurgical care at the highest level.”

About Dr. Sean D. Lavine

Dr. Lavine is a board-certified neurosurgeon that dedicates his practice exclusively to diseases associated with the cerebrovascular system and to those diseases treated with Endovascular Neurosurgical and Interventional Neuroradiological Procedures, often referred to as “embolization” or “stenting”. These diseases include brain and spinal aneurysms, carotid artery narrowing, acute stroke therapy and arteriovenous malformations and fistulas (AVMs and AVFs). He has served as the Director of Neuro-Interventional Services for the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey since the inception of the program at Valley in 2009.

He was among the first surgeons in the country to complete fellowship training in these procedures after completing neurosurgical training. He also serves as the Clinical Co-Director of Neuro-Endovascular Services at the Columbia University Medical Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Lavine recently completed his term as the Chairman of the Joint Cerebrovascular Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons(AANS) and Congress of Neurological Surgeons(CNS). The purpose of the Joint Cerebrovascular Section of the AANS and CNS is to advance education, research and patient care in the area of vascular diseases of the brain, and through our activities and educational programs, to direct national and international policy related to cerebrovascular disease.

Dr. Lavine graduated from Cornell Medical School after completing his undergraduate education at UCLA.
