Dr. Ty Olson

How quickly another year has passed, just last summer we announced that Dr. Ty J. Olson had cut the ribbon to Monmouth’s new Gamma Knife Center.

Dr. Olson, neurosurgeon from our West Long Branch office, is Co-Medical Director of the Gamma Knife Center at Monmouth along with radiation oncologist Dr. Sang Sim.

In a recent press release, Dr. Sim said, “Our first year has been successful, and we’re continuing to look at new ways to grow the Gamma Knife program and increase awareness for this advanced treatment within our community.”

Dr. Olson said, “The addition of Gamma Knife technology to our portfolio of treatments for brain tumors and brain disorders offers patients in our area a highly advanced and individualized approach to treatment. Our multidisciplinary team of clinical experts develops customized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific condition.”

The Gamma Knife is used to treat a multitude of problems including; Brain Tumors Arteriovenous MalformationsEpilepsyacoustic neuromas, and trigeminal neuralgia.

”The Gamma Knife (not a literal knife) generates a highly concentrated beam of radiation that is used to specifically target these lesions in the brain without open surgery.
