Pediatric Patients and Physicians Take the Runway at
St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Charity Gala

Ridgewood, NJ – At a time when pediatric healthcare is often discussed in terms of outcomes and systems, one New Jersey event is putting patient stories front and center.
The annual Fashion with Compassion gala, hosted by St. Joseph’s Health Foundation, will feature pediatric patients walking the runway alongside their physicians, offering a powerful and highly visual look at recovery, resilience, and long-term care.has treated, highlighting the relationships that extend far beyond surgery.
Taking place on April 23 at The Rockleigh, the event is one of the Foundation’s flagship fundraisers, supporting St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and its continued expansion of pediatric services.
Among those participating is Dr. Richard Anderson of Neurosurgeons of New Jersey, who will walk alongside a pediatric patient he has treated, highlighting the relationships that extend far beyond surgery.

This is about showing what comes after. We meet these children at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. To stand beside them now, as they grow and thrive, is incredibly motivating.

Dr. Anderson MD, FACS, FAAP

The runway format transforms what is typically a clinical narrative into something visible and accessible, allowing families to share their journeys in a way that resonates far beyond the hospital setting.
For many of the children participating, the event marks a significant milestone, moving from patient to participant, from treatment to celebration.
The evening also serves a critical fundraising role, supporting continued investment in pediatric care, facilities, and specialized services at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
By combining storytelling with community engagement, Fashion with Compassion offers a rare perspective on pediatric healthcare, one that focuses not just on treatment, but on what comes after.
