Dr. Jonathan Yun is a board-certified neurosurgeon who focuses on helping patients with spine disorders. He uses advanced, minimally invasive techniques to reduce recovery time and make surgery safer and less painful. Meet Dr. Yun

Dr. Jonathan Yun is a board-certified neurosurgeon and top spine surgeon based in New Jersey who specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, robotic spine procedures, and complex brain tumor treatment. Recognized as one of the best neurosurgeons in the region, he is a Ridgewood, NJ native who completed his neurosurgical residency at The Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he served as the only chief resident to graduate alone in the program’s history. He practices out of the Ridgewood and Glen Ridge offices, offering both non-surgical and surgical treatment options designed to reduce pain, restore function, and improve quality of life.

Dr. Yun treats a wide range of spine and brain conditions, including:

Training & Education

Dr. Jonathan Yun was raised in Ridgewood, NJ. He became interested in neurosurgery as a young medical student, recognizing the potential of surgical and nonsurgical treatment, technology and research in compassionate care and impacting patient’s lives.

Dr. Yun received his undergraduate degree in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience from The Johns Hopkins University. Upon graduation, he was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Medical Honor Society and Nu Rho Psi Undergraduate Honor Society for Neuroscience and was awarded general and departmental honors. Dr. Yun completed his Doctorate of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he graduated with honors and was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies.

His career in neurosurgery began his work with The Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow and an Alpha Omega Alpha Research Fellow. In these roles, Dr. Yun worked on translational therapies for drug delivery, the treatment of malignant and benign brain tumors, and worked to advance clinical trials. He completed his residency at The Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, serving as the only chief resident to graduate alone in the history of the program.

Since, he has authored over 20 neurosurgical publications and has given 13 presentations at neurosurgical conferences.

A Ridgewood, NJ native, Dr. Jonathan Yun has always been drawn to the intersection of science, technology, and compassionate care. He graduated with honors from The Johns Hopkins University, earning a degree in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience. His academic excellence was recognized with inductions into the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Medical Honor Society and Nu Rho Psi Undergraduate Honor Society for Neuroscience and was awarded general and departmental honors.
